experience Matters

My campaign slogan is “Planning for the Future”, which is what I’ve been doing and will continue to do when I’m elected to city council. 

My goal has always been to make Shelbyville a place my children would want to raise their family. 

When I was first elected to city council, I started the 7th Street Corridor Plan. My main concern being a gateway to the city and an entrance from downtown to our park. I’m happy to say, the 7th Street Corridor Renovation is complete, along with the Shelbyville Conference and Welcome Center. 

Other recent projects are:

• Stargazer Plaza
• Downtown Sculpture Walk
• Clay Street Parking Lot,
• 6th Street Pedestrian District Project

My accomplishments while serving as your city council member:

• Three Times voted to lower property taxes.  Being a single parent, I understand the importance of living within your means. 
• Had “Electric Car Chargers” installed at Stargazer Plaza and Shelbyville Conference and Welcome Center. 
• Paved over 30 miles of city roads.
• Supported the expansion of the Shelbyville Water and Sewer treatment plant to ensure Shelbyville is prepared for future growth. 
• Supported the building of a third fire station to ensure our citizens are safe, our insurance rates are low, and attract new industries. 
• Created a plan with tax incentives to encourage business that pay employee’s $45,000 or more a year to relocate jobs to Shelbyville. 
• Served on the Shelbyville/Shelby County Parks Board for 8 years.  Was named “2011 Park Board Member of the Year”
• Served on the Budget Committee for Shelbyville/Shelby Co Parks, and the City of Shelbyville for 8 years
• Served on Public Works Committee for 14 years
• Served on Fire Committee for 4 years 
• Served on Economic Development Committee for 4 years 
• Served on Golf Committee for 4 years

The Kentucky League of Cities named Shelbyville the “2020 City Government of the Year.”

Over the years, with the help of all the council members I've grown in my knowledge, and appreciation of city government . My experience in working on nearly every committee that serves the city has prepared me to serve as your council member.

I will continue to make myself available to hear your questions, your concerns and your ideas. Together we will make Shelbyville an even better place to live.
